Fred Horton visits Pyreg GmbH to inspect equipment
Fred Horton just returned from a visit to Pyreg GmbH in Dörth, Germany, to inspect the two pyrolytic kilns Standard Biocarbon Corp has ordered from the manufacturer. The nearly completed PX-1500H biochar reactors, pictured above, will be shipped next month and will be installed adjacent to the Pleasant River Spruce and Pine mills in West Enfield, Maine in November. The facility will produce about 18,000 cubic yards or about 1,300 tons of high carbon biochar per year. Biochar has a high level of durability, lasting hundreds of years in soils, so the carbon content is sequestered where biomass, whether burned or left to decay, is released back to the atmosphere. Biochar has emerged as a highly efficient and scalable atmospheric carbon dioxide removal technology. Standard Biocarbon will supply certified carbon removal credits (CDRs) to emerging private carbon markets such as puro.earth and carbon-future.earth, which offer corporations and individuals the opportunity to offset their carbon emissions. Standard Biocarbon Corporation will exploit the enormous potential for scaling the biochar industry with Maine’s abundant supply of woody biomass.
